Momentum Dance Toronto (MDT) celebrates the layers of musical inspiration in our 6th annual production: UNDER | COVER. Through the exclusive use of cover songs, our dancers have explored how music can re-inspire and perpetuate new interpretations, personal connections and other works of art - generation upon generation.
Let MDT dancers take you on a musically inspired journey as we connect to familiar melodies and use various movement styles to unveil the many layers that lie beneath the surface of being human: stories of love, loss, relationships, fear, acceptance, rejection, discovery, art and of course, inspiration. This year, our dancers and choreographers have been challenged to reflect on the following questions: what masks do we wear in life and why? Who or what inspires us to peel away the layers, revealing our truest person? How does society impact what we choose to hide? How do music and personal relationships challenge this conformity, allowing us to grow into who we are meant to be? We invite you to peel back the layers of these questions with us as we listen to the sounds of familiar songs - and as we share familiar stories - that can connect us all.
