About Me (human):
Mathew Heggem, dance-artist/educator/arts administrator, currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. Originally from the Pacific Northwest (Bellingham, WA), he relocated to the East Coast in 2003 and has since performed nationally. He began his studies in theater performance, ballet and modern dance. To date, his knowledge within the field of dance has expanded to include contemporary ballet, improvisation, partnering techniques and various traditional and contemporary cultural forms. Seeking to connect his understanding of art practices with his experience in contemporary dance, Heggem bridges an experimental and visionary practice to technique, improvisation and partnering. Thanks for your comment Mathew. We've just got back from Australia doing workshops on improvisation in Sydney and Melbourne as part of Reeldance. Really great. Its always like research doing these things. New thoughts come up all the time when meeting new people like that. best Simon
