About Me (human):
I am a videodancemaker as well as a producer, choreographer, dancer, arts administrator, and blogger based in New York. Currently I am curating a monthly dance screening series called Kinetic Cinema in which I invite different guests from the dance community to share the films and videos that have inspired their work in dance. I see this as a way of tapping into the influence of media in all our lives, and starting discussion of how media and dance intersect in our work. I am also in production phase of a new videodance called Fünf 'n' Twist to be shot this summer. I publish a blog about videodance called Move the Frame hosted on GreatDance.com in which I explore and write about many topics related to dance for the camera. I realized that I could best serve the dance world through media if I got some business skills, so I enrolled in The New School's Media Management Certificate Program (part of their MA Media Studies Program) and am in my final semester there. Lastly, I work as a fiscal administrator for dance companies at Pentacle (www.pentacle.org), where I help artists manage their money. This fall I'm excited to announce that I will be starting a new division of Pentacle called Movement Media, adding media consulting and management services for dance artists and companies, as well as co-presenting Kinetic Cinema and hosting my blog Move the Frame. Stay tuned for more details about this new program!

Artist-driven Curating and How it Could Help Galvanize a Screendance Movement

At the Screendance conference at ADF two weeks ago, I presented a paper that put forth an argument for the value of "artist-driven" curating in developing and galvanizing an art form. I wanted to propose a way of raising awareness about screendance among dance communities that would help dancers to feel like they can enter this art form that is new to them with a set of useable skills and knowledge already in place. Click… Continue
