About Me (human):
I am currently an MFA candidate at Rhode Island School of Design where I will receive my graduate degree in Digital+Media in 2009. Born and raised in Australia, I completed my Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) degree at Sydney College of the Arts where I majored in Painting. After moving to New York City, my artistic path took a detour through dance, and finally back to fine arts. During this time, I studied a range of dance and performance techniques, performing with various choreographers, dance and performance art companies while continuing to develop a multidisciplinary arts practice of my own. This practice has included varying combinations of dance, drawing, performance, video and interactive installation work, executed in the space of the gallery, the theater and the public arena.
Where are you based?
Providence, RI and NYC.
Area of interest on performance and new media
My recent studio projects comprise an investigation into the intersections of portraiture and performance. Through interactive installations and documentary-style video works, my projects seek to reflect the impact of media technologies on performances, constitutions and documentations of the Self. Recent installation works re-interpret the gallery as a theatrical arena, investigating the actions of posing and viewing inherent to the performative space of the gallery. My current research focuses on the performance of subjectivity, exploring the performance of Self as inherently informed by changing imaging technologies.

Enviornments and applications that you use the most for your projects
maxmspjitter, Processing, Final Cut ( or any other video editing), arduino (DYS sensor systems), robotic devices
How do you train yourself or your performers. How do you approach your embodied practices? what kind of technique do you use?
The performers in my current installation work are the "viewer/participants" who encounter and interact with the work. Such performers are already trained, they bring with them the actions, reactions and subtleties of performance that are ingrained in our mind-bodies as we move through the everyday technological world. Within the predefined parameters of the work, these performers create an image, a portrait of Self that reflects a specific style of interactivity and performativity indicative of the digital age.
