Drawing on "9 Evenings of Theatre and Engineering" as historical prototype for interactive art humbling current soft exhibitions such as "Decode" (V&A, London),Birringer discusses the emergent field of digital performance and demonstrates various techniques and concepts of visual, scored or improvisational interactive performance. He will share his experience and knowledge of working in different cultural and collaborative professional settings as well as research contexts. Witnessing shifts toward open source and open system design, and referring to international stage works, choreographic systems, installations and site-specific performances, the function of interactivity is examined under a critical light.This audiovisual seminar was commissioned as part of FOOD 4 THOUGHT by The School of Arts and New Media, University of Hull @ Scarborough.
