In late 2010 the Berlin based media artist duo SpringerParker invited Neon’s Adrienne Hart to choreograph their contemporary dance opera ‘There Are Places In Our Heads One Can Travel To’. Since 2008 SpringerParker have been travelling around the region of Finnmark in a motor caravan.
During several artistic explorations they’ve been observing the region, while collecting images, sounds and stories for their archives
– memories that are now transformed into a Contemporary Dance Opera about the landscape, the environment and the people.

There Are Places In Our Heads One Can Travel To’ premiered in Kirkenes, Norway as part of the Barents Spektakel festival on the 5th February 2011.

Concept/images/music: SpringerParker (Germany).
Opera singer: Lilly Jørstad (Norway).
Musicians: Bram Stadhouders (guitar), Bob Heuvelmans (harp) (Holland).
Choreographer: Adrienne Hart (Great Britain).
String quartet: Viktor Orri Árnason, Bjarni Frímann Bjarnason, Louis Bona, Karl Jóhann Bjarnason (Iceland).
Ballet-dancers from the State Musical Theatre of Karelia (Russia):
Semen Ruban, Vladimir Varnava, Eduard Demidov and Anatolii Skuratov.

Produced by Pikene på Broen and SpringerParker.

This April will see Adrienne and film collaborator Alice Powell working with the Exeter students from the Swindon Dance Youth Dance Academy (part of the nationwide CAT scheme designed to offer professional dance training to young people). We’re delighted to be invited by YDA to spent an intensive week with their Exeter programme in resident at Dartington Hall. ...and finally

Nils Frahm & Anne Müller
7fingers

A little taster of what to expect from Neon’s upcoming collaborators Nils Frahm and Anne Müller. With their first collective release Nils Frahm and Anne Müller have built a world where modern classical and electronica collide creating an ‘intoxicating and delicious’ collection of songs. ‘7fingers’ is out now on Erased Tapes. Available on CD, vinyl and digital download this record is currently receiving some great press from the UK music mags.

‘The combined talents of wunderkind pianist Frahm and Anne Müller here produce a subtle, seductive
chamber music sporadically interleaved with electronic glitches’
**** – Mojo

Erased Tapes is also home to Peter Broderick’s ‘Music for Falling From Trees’ (Neon’s 2009 commission) and Olafur Arnalds ‘Dyad 1909
(originally commissioned by Wayne McGregor | Random Dance in 2010).
