About Me (human/individual)/interests, work..short bio/ THis is the most important. It is the only way to know that you are not a SPAMBOT!Be generous!: As an experimental artist I choose to push beyond boundaries by creating new and unseen work that touches upon dreams and imagined realities through the use of cinema. It is important to me to transport my audience to a magical new place while creating a physical sensation in their bodies that is caused by the movement and rhythms in the images they are seeing on the screen. I think of my work as an external expression of my internal state. I am simple in my approach and call upon surrealism, color theory and minimalism to help translate my visions from inner to outer. My craft of tapping into the images, colors, rhythms and moods that live inside me and transferring them onto the screen has a kinetic effect upon my viewer. I am beyond all things, a dreamer, a story teller and a visualist with an intention to show the world new things.

Cari Ann Shim Sham* is a dancefilm specialist. Her film SAND is a finalist in the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes and won Official Selection at Austin Film Festival and Best Director from First Glance Film Festival, Best Mini Documentary from St. Louis International Film Festival and Best Short Documentary from the Oxford Film Festival. She authored a ten lesson educational toolkit for video and photography for the worldwide participation of students in a multi-platform participatory media project & documentary film, One Day on Earth www.onedayonearth.org and was recently published in the International Journal of Screndance. Cari Ann was the recipient of the Surdna Arts Teachers Fellowship in 2007 and short-listed by EMPAC Dance Movies Commission 2007-10. For five years she’s served on the screening committee for Dance Camera West and is in her second year of programming Dancefilm for the Topanga Film Festival. She’s taught workshops in Dancefilm in Malaysia, Java, and UC Riverside, and is a lecturer for UCLA’s World Arts & Cultures Department, where she received her BA and MFA. She’s currently working on films with Rachael Lincoln, Jia Wu, Lynn Dally and David Rousseve.
