May 2010. Interactive dance video piece for 14 dancers.By Sonia Rodrigues. This piece is part of my Phd project in Interactive Arts at the Oporto Catholic University, School of the Arts. I have been developing a creative platform and languange for dancers to interact live with both video and sound through drawing. In this piece the dancers respond to the drawings projected on top pf them and the drawings in turn respond to the dancers in a dialogue between Drawing and action. Sound wise I worked with Andre Baltazar application ‘Colorasom’ which uses visual computational algorithms that allow for real time analysis of the drawings. So, the application looks at the drawings and depending on the colours used it selects and executes a sound sample. Therefore the orchestration of the piece is with the artist drawing live and all the elements dialogue and interact with the environment. Really good fun.
