Cnoc Fírinne - Pilgrimage Path

Thousands of farm families and workers made the annual pilgrimage to the summit of Donn's hill in County Limerick, North Munster every Béltaine for tens of centuries... carrying bouquets of flowers. At the summit each would circle the cairn on the top three times deisail and then entreat Donn Fírinne (Lord of Storms/Lord of Death) to provide sufficient rain the coming summer for good crops, but to moderate the winds and hail so no shoots or mature grain were ruined. The path, worn down to waist deep, has been designated an Irish Heritage monument.
