Event Description

SUMMER CHOREOGRAPHY SALON

Sanspointe Dance Company will host a summer choreographic salon series in the theater at the Community Arts Space (Children’s Dance Foundation) in Homewood, AL. The historic purpose of an artistic salon gathering is to both entertain and educate. Choreographers and audiences will have a meeting of the minds through the performance event followed by an intellectually guided discussion forum.

Dances are limited to a 10 minute maximum duration and must be movement-based. Each screening of work will be limited to 6 choreographers. Each evening will include a feedback session moderated by current company members of Sanspointe. Choreographers are encouraged to experiment with the concept of “what is dance?” within an artistically supportive environment.

The salon series will occur on the second Friday during the summer of 2014: June 13th, July 11th, August 8th at 6pm. Pieces will be selected on a first-come first-reserved basis through an email application. All ages and abilities will be allowed to perform in and attend this event free of charge. The dance company will curate the event based on submissions received. There will be a suggested donation of $5 at the door.
