Event Description

What is wror? wror is a self-created word. It is an attempt to describe the sound you hear and feel, when you have high pressure on your ears. And an attempt to describe the way you see, when your eyes are unable to focus. It is a tautological attempt to define a state of being in between. Being stuffed in the border between outside and inside. The wideness of the compressed perception leaves you feeling numb and deluded.

During the rehearsal process Miriam Welk is wearing glasses which blur her vision thus change perception of the world around her and also her own body. What are the possibilities in movement and sound through the different proportions in this different perceptive space? Shuah Brotherton, Sigrid Rotzler and Andreas Steffen translate the inner state into the wider space through sound and visual composition trying to share the perception of the dancer.

The performance invites the audience to dive into a dimmed and muffled world. To accentuate this, the audience is free to wear glasses with thick lenses and to put dabbers in their ears, to experience the performance with the perception described above.

Our main interest during the development of wror is to investigate a state, which is endless in many ways. We want to find out if and how long one can linger in a place of vagueness. A state, which habitually is passed by or ignored; a state one usually wants to get out of. Sleepiness and fear.

This video was made during the rehearsal. The work is in process. The costume Miriam will be wearing is going to be designed by Sigrid Rotzler; Shuah Brotherton will project slides with a diascope never reaching the point of absolute sharpness.

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE

This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.

We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary  community interacting and embedded  unstablelandscape.

This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
